Matrimonio infantil: vulneración de derechos y maltrato

Resumen
De acuerdo a la UNICEF, solo en 2019 mundialmente se registraron 765 millones de niños y adolescentes que se casaron antes de cumplir la mayoría de edad; de estos, 650 millones de niñas y adolescentes y se tiene registro de al menos 115 millones de varones que se casaron siendo niños o adolescentes.
A pesar de los peligros y de que la CDN contempla como edad mínima para contraer matrimonio la edad de 18 años, las cifras solo han disminuido en un 30 %.
Estos matrimonios se siguen practicando en Asia meridional y en varias partes de África; basándose principalmente en costumbres y religión y supone un riesgo para la vida de estos niños, además supone una gran vulneración de sus derechos.

Abstract
According to UNICEF, in 2019 alone, 765 million children and adolescents worldwide were registered as having married before the age of majority; of these, 650 million girls and adolescents and at least 115 million boys are registered as having married as children or adolescents.
Despite the dangers and the fact that the CRC sets the minimum age of marriage at 18, the numbers have only decreased by 30 per cent.
These marriages continue to be practised in South Asia and in several parts of Africa; they are mainly based on customs and religion and pose a risk to the lives of these children and are a major violation of their rights.
