De niñas a madres, embarazo adolescente en Ecuador
From girls to mothers, teenage pregnancy in Ecuador

Resumen
Ecuador está posicionado en el puesto 5 del ranquin de embarazos adolescentes en la región, según datos obtenidos por la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS). Con esto nos preguntamos ¿Verdad queremos
esto para nuestras niñas y adolescentes? ¿Qué sucede con ellas y el entorno que las rodea? ¿Cómo se verán afectadas?
Los datos e información que se recopilan a diario en nuestro país son preocupantes. Según el INEC Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos (INEC) se calcula
que el 12 % de niñas en una edad de 10-19 han estado embarazadas al menos una vez, y el Ecuador reconoce que el 80 % de los casos reportados son consecuencias
de abusos sexuales dando como resultado que 111 de cada 1000 niñas quedan embarazadas entre los 15 y los 19 años [1].

Abstract
Ecuador ranks fifth in the region for teenage pregnancies, according to data obtained by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). This leads us to ask ourselves: Do we really want this for our girls and teenagers? What happens to them and their environment? How will they be affected?
The data and information collected daily in our country are worrying. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), it is estimated
that 12% of girls aged 10-19 have been pregnant at least once, and Ecuador recognizes that 80% of reported cases are the result of sexual abuse, resulting in 111 out of every 1,000 girls becoming pregnant between the ages of 15 and 19 [1].
