Abstract
This research aims to highlight the importance of reading among young people and to encourage them to engage in this activity.
To gather data on the topic, a short survey was conducted, through which certain facts were confirmed—for example, that in Ecuador, reading is not considered an important activity and lacks motivation, despite being essential for the development of critical thinking and in social, cultural, educational, spiritual, and personal aspects, among others.
After researching various websites for information, it was confirmed that reading is a necessary tool that helps individuals develop their full potential. Furthermore, this habit fosters imagination in young people and in all human beings in general.
Likewise, reading is a fundamental instrument for self-education. Therefore, reading is not just a hobby, but a vital part of human development. It is an activity that could be considered a right, and to some extent, a responsibility.
On the other hand, it is important to note that reading is not boring if one finds the right genre that suits their interests.
