Abstract
Violence is a reality in our current society. Young people are victims of violence from their partners; shaking, hitting, abuse, and more are experiences that happen daily among acquaintances, friends, or even ourselves.
As young people, we may not be taken seriously by adults when discussing violent relationships; due to lack of experience, they believe that everything that happens at these ages is just temporary situations. However, they do not realize that an adverse situation can leave lifelong scars on the individual.
Dealing with a violent partner is not a task for one person alone; support from parents or a professional is needed. The affected person must recognize their situation and understand that acts of violence are not expressions of love. The aggressor must also accept their role as the perpetrator and face the consequences of their actions, receiving professional help.
Violence generally goes through several stages which become increasingly dangerous over time for those involved, especially the victim, who in such situations could even lose their life.
Keywords: violence, dating, youth, aggressor, victim.
