Abstract
This project involved the development of a prototype smart vermicomposter based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time monitoring of environmental variables.
The system was installed at the Santillán farm, located in Calderón, for the treatment of organic waste through vermicomposting with earthworms.
The objective was to design and build an automated system capable of monitoring the conditions necessary for this process. The methodology included theoretical research, design, construction, and validation of the prototype. The results demonstrated that the system efficiently monitored environmental variables and facilitated control of the organic compost production process.
Keywords: smart vermicomposting bin, design, construction, environmental monitoring, IoT system, organic compost.
