Abstract
Biotechnologies such as estrus synchronization and fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) are key tools for improving the reproductive efficiency of dairy cattle. This study evaluated two synchronization protocols, J-Synch and Web-Synch, in crossbred cows inseminated at a fixed time with sexed semen in the Guachapala canton.
A total of 120 animals—60 per protocol—were selected based on diagnostic ultrasound and body condition score. Pregnancy diagnosis was performed 30 days post-insemination. The results showed pregnancy rates of 58% for J-Synch and 60% for Web-Synch, with no significant differences between the two treatments.
Keywords: protocol, artificial insemination, reproductive biotechnology, J-Synch, Web-Synch, pregnancy rate, dairy cattle.
