Abstract
This article examines the behavior of a vehicle’s exhaust gases in relation to ignition timing, with the goal of meeting the parameters set by the INEN 2204 standard. The study aims to minimize pollution caused by internal combustion in the engine, thereby ensuring compliance with vehicular technical inspections. Six tests were conducted to determine the ignition angle at which the engine emits the lowest levels of pollutants. The results showed that at 1° near Top Dead Center (TDC), emissions fall within the limits established by the INEN 2204 standard.
Keywords: pollutant emissions, electronic distributor, gas analyzer, ignition timing, TDC (Top Dead Center)
