Broiler chicken farming in the UEAS
Autor: John Steven Yanza Jarro (Unidad Educativa Agronómico Salesiano)
Abstract
One of the main problems in poultry farming is the increase in broiler chicken commercialization in recent years. However, in this type of farming, feeding acts as a limiting factor, which increases production costs. It has been determined, through field analysis, that live weight, weight gain, and feed conversion are lower when using mash feed, due to the higher energy expenditure at the time of consumption.
For this reason, it is proposed to use pelleted concentrates instead of traditional ones, which improve the utilization of food rations, achieving better performance of the broiler chicken in its live weight, which facilitates its conversion into better profits with efficient feed conversion.
In this research work, an observation sheet technique is applied, used to verify the state of the sheds. As results: we can mention that, at the Unidad Educativa Agronómico Salesiano, there is a total of four sheds for large-scale poultry farming. An analysis of its facilities was carried out to implement the broiler chicken fattening project, and the best one was chosen for the farming.
