El turismo sexual en Filipinas
Sexual tourism in the Philippines

Resumen
Este artículo de opinión tiene como finalidad exponer la problemática del turismo sexual en Filipinas teniendo en cuenta sus inicios, desenvolvimiento y las causas principales que obligan a las mujeres a venderse a extranjeros convirtiéndose en víctimas de la trata de personas y como el Estado esconde a los demás turistas para no afectar la imagen de paraíso perfecto para sus vacaciones, que no es más que, una de las tantas formas que tiene de encubrir esta serie de problemas.
Esta investigación me permitió conocer a fondo la forma en que se maneja la prostitución en el país y como ésta llega a ser normalizada por su población que mira esta práctica como un trabajo común, sobre todo en los barrios más podres, el efecto que tiene no solo en las trabajadoras sexuales sino también en sus familias y su entorno social.

Abstract
This opinion article aims to expose the issue of sexual tourism in the Philippines, considering its origins, development, and the main causes that force women to sell themselves to foreigners, becoming victims of human trafficking. It also highlights how the state hides these realities from other tourists to avoid damaging the image of a perfect vacation paradise, which is just one of the many ways it conceals these problems.
This research allowed me to deeply understand how prostitution is managed in the country and how it becomes normalized by the population, especially in the poorest neighborhoods, where this practice is seen as common work. The article also discusses the impact this has not only on the sex workers but also on their families and social environment.
