Resumen
En este trabajo se expone una investigación realizada en la Unidad Educativa Santana, sobre el conocimiento de los científicos ecuatorianos y sus aportes. Para el efecto, se diseñó una encuesta en Google Forms que se distribuyó a través de redes sociales y correo electrónico y en la que participaron 145 personas, 84 de ellas directamente implicadas en la comunidad Santana.
Los resultados indican un bajo nivel de conocimiento sobre los científicos ecuatorianos y sus aportes, pero la mayoría coincide en que este tema es importante y desean saber más del mismo. Se agrega que la mayoría de los participantes sugiere que la difusión de este tema se realice a través de redes sociales, páginas web y en la revista institucional Santana News. Estos resultados refuerzan la necesidad de ampliar el nivel de conocimientos sobre la ciencia y los científicos en Ecuador, en especial en los estudiantes de la comunidad, como una forma de reforzar la identidad y compromiso social con la ciencia en el país.

Abstract
This paper presents research conducted at the Santana Educational Unit on the knowledge of Ecuadorian scientists and their contributions. To this end, a survey was designed using Google Forms and distributed via social media and email, with 145 participants, 84 of whom are directly part of the Santana community.
The results indicate a low level of awareness regarding Ecuadorian scientists and their work; however, most respondents agree that this topic is important and express interest in learning more about it. Additionally, the majority of participants suggest that the dissemination of this information should take place through social media, websites, and the institutional magazine Santana News. These findings highlight the need to broaden scientific knowledge and awareness of local scientists in Ecuador, especially among students in the community, as a means of strengthening national identity and fostering social commitment to science.
