Analysis of the drug consumption table in Ecuador
Abstract
To begin, we can say that drugs are all substances that alter the functioning of the brain and the human body. However, it is important to make a small but very important clarification, as many consider that drugs are only those substances that cause behavioral changes in a person, such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, to name a few, and that are therefore subject to prohibition in their production, possession, storage, distribution, sale, transport, etc. Nevertheless, these substances are not the only drugs, since, as we have said, drugs include all substances that alter the functioning of the body and mind, including medications without professional control.
The objective of this research is to raise awareness about the misuse of the drug consumption table through a bibliographic review of academic databases. We will see how criminals, patients, addicts, and justice administrators misuse the drug consumption table, which negatively affects society. The methodology used is descriptive, concluding that the drug consumption table is a tool that does not provide the necessary elements of judgment for the application of sentences by justice bodies.
Keywords: drug table, addictions, repeal, public health.
