La lectura como elemento clave para el crecimiento personal
Reading as a key element for personal growth

Resumen
Se está atravesando una crisis cultural que, en buena parte, quizás viene explicada por un cada vez mayor desapego a la lectura. En este artículo se proponen, desde la mirada de una adolescente, algunas posibles causas que explicarían esta ausencia de la costumbre de leer que ahora existe en los jóvenes. Se plantea que la forma en la que se promueve la lectura en niños y jóvenes, tanto el hogar como en los centros de estudio, no es la adecuada y que la irrupción de la tecnología influye negativamente en la decisión de lectura. Para esto, se analiza información estadística, se incluye la opinión de algunos autores sobre el tema tratado y la opinión de la misma autora por tener conocimiento de causa y ser parte del grupo sobre el que se realiza el análisis. El material revisado demuestra muy poco apego a la lectura a nivel nacional, y la poca importancia que desde la sociedad se le otorga a este ámbito. Se espera que los organismos públicos y las instituciones educativas, tomen cartas en el asunto y valoren la enorme importancia que tiene la lectura en el crecimiento personal y en el desarrollo de la sociedad.

Abstract
We are experiencing a cultural crisis that, to a large extent, can perhaps be explained by an increasing disengagement from reading. In this article, from the perspective of a teenager, some possible causes are proposed that would explain this absence of the habit of reading that now exists among young people. It suggests that the way in which reading is promoted among children and young people, both at home and in schools, is inadequate and that the emergence of technology has a negative influence on the decision to read. To this end, statistical information is analyzed, including the opinions of some authors on the subject and the opinion of the author herself, who has first-hand knowledge and is part of the group being analyzed. The material reviewed shows very little attachment to reading at the national level and the lack of importance that society attaches to this area. It is hoped that public bodies and educational institutions will take action on this issue and recognize the enormous importance of reading for personal growth and the development of society.
