Edición N°5 – Artículo 03
Un cambio de planes
A change of plans
Abstract
The objectives of this article are to present the situation we are experiencing from a student’s point of view and to demonstrate whether the education system is ready to be transferred to a virtual format; whether or not it is possible to break down barriers. Research was conducted on the changes that occurred with virtual education, something that was not anticipated and yet changed the lives of not only a city, province, or country, but the entire world. We all had long-term plans, but they simply took a different turn. The infamous coronavirus transformed everyone’s lives. The situation of students, teachers, and even parents changed completely, as education would now be virtual, and a new problem arose [1], [2]. What about those who do not have a computer or Internet at home? Their opportunities are not the same as those of others; parents were not ready for this new modality, many have not attended high school and do not know how to help their children. And the problem does not end there, as the Coast and Galapagos regions had to start their new school year somewhat late and are still struggling to adjust. Many goals, dreams, and aspirations have stalled or been confronted with a new reality. Based on all of the above points, we will use the deductive method to express our feelings as students experiencing this situation.
Keywords: COVID-19, virtual education, students, teachers, parents, dreams.
